Android will warn you before installing this. That warning is correct.

This app is installed directly rather than through the Play Store, so your terminal has no store checking it on your behalf. Only install a file you downloaded from this page, and check the fingerprint below against what you got before you open it.

Installing it

    Download the file on the terminal itself

    Open this page in the terminal's browser and tap Download. Moving an APK across on a USB stick works too, but downloading it here is one less place for the wrong file to come from.

    Allow this one install

    Android asks whether the browser may install apps. Grant it, install, then turn it back off — the permission is per-app, and leaving it on is what the warning is really about.

    Sign in with your LOKAL account

    The same email and password as your dashboard. The terminal picks up your menu, prices, tax and staff automatically — there is nothing to configure.

    Set a register PIN

    Each person who rings a sale gets their own PIN, so the till knows who took the money.

Already have it installed?

Installing over the top is enough for anything from version 1.1.0 onward — your settings, printer setup and sign-in are kept.

If it still shows the old app afterwards

Open Settings → About on the terminal and read the build number. If it is not build 4, the install did not take — which happens when the terminal is carrying a test build, because Android refuses to replace an app signed with a different key and leaves the old one running rather than saying so.

Uninstall the app first, then install this file. Sales already synced are safe on your account; anything still waiting to sync is not, so do this between services rather than mid-shift.

Checking you got the real file

Every build has a fingerprint that changes if even one byte of the file does. Compare this against the file you downloaded — if they differ, delete it and tell us.

What it needs

An Android tablet or terminal

Android 7.0 or newer. Built for a 15.6" countertop terminal in landscape; it runs on a smaller tablet, but the register is designed for the wide screen.

Wi-Fi — but not constantly

Sales are written to the device first and sync when the connection returns, so a dropout mid-service does not stop the till.

A receipt printer, optionally

USB or network ESC/POS. Without one, receipts and kitchen chits stay on screen.

A LOKAL subscription

The terminal signs in to your existing account. Nothing extra to buy.
